Swansea man arrested after 'inappropriate' taxi warning

Police in Swansea have arrested a man after reports a taxi driver has been acting inappropriately towards lone women.

The 20-year-old was arrested on Saturday in the Ravenhill area of Swansea and has been released on police bail.

Officers are urging women passengers to take extra care when booking taxis.

Detective Sergeant Jonathan Bambridge of Swansea CID said investigations are continuing.

He said: "We are appealing to anyone and in particular lone females who may have been subjected to any inappropriate behaviour or with relevant information to come forward."

Women are being advised to ensure they use a reputable taxi company and check that the vehicle is displaying a taxi plate and that the driver has a current driver's badge.

Police also emphasised that where possible, women should not take taxis alone and should avoid being unduly under the influence of alcohol.
