Halloween mask robbery on woman near Swansea Sainsbury

A 62-year-old woman was left "extremely shaken and upset" after a man wearing a Halloween mask stole her purse containing her Christmas savings.

South Wales Police said the man, dressed all in black, grabbed her on a footpath alongside the River Tawe in Swansea, opposite Sainsbury's car park.

He stole her purse and ran off towards the back of the supermarket in the direction of the marina at about 18:00 BST on Friday.

Officers are appealing for witnesses.

Det Con Chris Grey, from Swansea Central CID, said: "This was a cowardly attack on a lone female in the city centre.

"Understandably, the woman has been left extremely shaken up by the incident and upset that money she had been saving throughout the year for Christmas has been stolen."

South Wales Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the robbery or may have seen a man matching this description in the area of Sainsbury's car park to contact Swansea CID on 01792 450618 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
