Woman, 19, 'glassed' in Llandovery party violence

A 19 year-old woman was "glassed" in the face as a large fight broke out at a private party in Llandovery, say police.

A man, 34, was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. Two other men were also arrested after two police cars were damaged.

The incident happened at the town's rugby club which had been hired for Saturday night's event.

The woman is being treated at Morriston Hospital for "substantial" injuries.

Dyfed-Powys Police were called to the scene in the early hours of Sunday morning.

'Disorder'

Detective Inspector Steve Cockwell said the young woman, who did not know her alleged attacker, was taken to hospital in Swansea for specialist treatment.

"The incident resulted in a number of people intervening which then escalated into a large scale fight," he said.

"Two police cars were also damaged during the disorder."

Det Insp Cockwell said the 34-year-old man suspected of carrying out the glassing also received minor injuries.

The suspect was treated in hospital and later arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm before being released on police bail.

A 23-year-old man was arrested for assault and damaging a police car. He was also bailed pending further enquiries.

A 20-year-old man was arrested and cautioned for damaging a police vehicle.
