Police want help to trace two raiders who smashed a window at a Tesco on Christmas Day and threatened security staff with a crowbar.

They attacked the store in Llansamlet, Swansea, with a boulder at about 19:20 GMT after arriving on scrambling bikes.

One was caught by security staff, but they let him go after the second suspect threatened them.

Anyone with information is asked to contact South Wales Police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

One was seen trying to force open a shutter securing cigarettes with a crowbar.

Security staff detained one of the suspects leaving via the smashed window, but released him after they were threatened.

Both fled the store empty-handed.

The first suspect is described as male, of medium build and approximately 6ft (1.83m).

He was wearing a yellow and blue motorcycle helmet, black and blue motorcycle top, black bottoms and black boots.

The second suspect was of slim build, approximately 5ft 10in (1.78m), and wearing a black motorcycle helmet, blue three-quarter-length jacket, black bottoms, and white trainers.

Acting Insp Trudi Meyrick, of Morriston Police Station, said: "I am appealing to anyone who had been out for Christmas day and was returning home past Tesco's and saw the motor cyclists - one of whom was wearing distinctive clothing - or has any relevant information to come forward."
