Teenager sexually assaulted after party in Pontardawe

Police are appealing for information after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted after attending a party in Pontardawe, Swansea Valley.

The 17-year-old was attacked by a stranger in a lane between Alltycham Drive and Ffordd Brynheulog, opposite the town's fire station.

The man tried to talk to the girl before assaulting her at about 22:15 GMT on Thursday.

The attacker was described as around 40 years old, skinny and 6ft (182cm) tall.

He spoke with a local accent and was wearing camouflaged trousers and a black hooded top.

Det Insp David Hough, from Neath Port Talbot CID, said the attack was "extremely upsetting" for the young girl.

"I would appeal to anyone who saw or heard any suspicious activity in this area between 22:00 and 22:30 GMT or who recognises the suspect from the description to come forward," he said.

"The young victim had been attending a party at the 6 J's Pontardawe Football Club so we are also appealing to anyone who attended there who may have information about this incident to come forward."

Police say any witnesses or anyone with information should call police in Neath Port Talbot on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
