Police have released pictures of a car they are looking to trace after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted in Swansea city centre.

The 18-year-old was in York Street at around 23:55 GMT on Wednesday, 26 January when she got into what is thought to be a black Vauxhall Zafira.

She got out of the same car in the Castle Street area 30 minutes later.

South Wales Police believe the sexual assault happened in the car during this time in The Strand area behind Argos.

The suspect is described as medium-build male in his 30s with dark coloured skin, of unshaven appearance, spoke with a foreign accent and was wearing a dark coloured long sleeve jumper.

Det Insp Darren George of Swansea Central CID asked for anyone who can confirm the identity of the car and the suspect to come forward.

"This was an extremely traumatic experience for the young lady concerned; this man needs to be caught as soon as possible," he said.

"The evening in question was a particularly busy night in Swansea.

"I am putting out a direct appeal to anyone with information, irrespective how insignificant they may think it is, whether it be in respect of the vehicle for which we have released images or in relation to the suspect, to please come forward as a matter of urgency."

South Wales Police asked for anyone with information to contact police in Swansea on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
