Scooter rider dies in collision at junction in Neath

A 34-year-old motor scooter rider has died after a collision involving a car.

The driver of the car and a passenger riding pillion on the scooter suffered minor injuries at the junction between School Road and Old Road, Neath, around 10:55 GMT on Wednesday.

The rider, who lived locally, was pronounced dead at the scene. The road was closed for about three hours to allow for initial investigations.

South Wales Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.

Officers said a blue Ford Fiesta collided with a red scooter which was travelling in the opposite direction.

Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, stopped to provide assistance or may have seen the vehicles being driven prior to the collision.
