The managing director of rugby region the Ospreys has had an assault charge against him dropped.

Mike Cuddy, 47, who also runs Neath-based demolition firm Cuddy Group, was accused of assaulting a man outside the Liberty Stadium after a game in March.

Mr Cuddy denied the allegation and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed it had been withdrawn.

The man involved was believed to have been working as a car park attendant at the time.

Jonathan Coombs, senior prosecutor for the CPS in Wales, said: "Our latest review of the case against Mr Cuddy concluded that there is no longer a realistic prospect of conviction, as a result of the complaint against him having been withdrawn.

"We have therefore discontinued the case against Mr Cuddy and informed all parties of our decision."
