£1,000 cash wallet find prompts search for owner

Police are trying to trace the owner of a wallet containing more than £1,000 in cash after it was handed in by a member of the public.

The wallet was found in Port Talbot town centre and the finder has been praised by police.

South Wales Police Insp Andy Matthews said: "It is obviously a large amount of money for someone to lose."

Police said anyone attempting to claim the cash would have to accurately describe the wallet.

A spokesman said: "We can't give a description. There would be some distinguishing elements to the wallet that would only be known to the loser."

Insp Matthews added: "If anyone has lost a wallet in the town centre area then please get in touch with us so they can be reunited with their property."
