Witnesses appeal after assault on Llanelli teenager

Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious assault in Llanelli left a 17-year-old youth in hospital.

The teenager was attacked at about 23:05 GMT on Wednesday near Heol Tregoning in the Morfa area, close to a footbridge over the railway line.

Officers said the footbridge is known locally as as "black bridge" and leads to Pen-y-Fan.

A 17-year-old local youth has been arrested on suspicion of serious assault, Dyfed-Powys Police said.

Acting Ch Insp Ross Evans said: "Officers were in the area at the time of the offence and were able to deal with this incident quickly and effectively.

"As usual, neighbourhood officers will be on patrol in the Morfa area over the coming days to help support the community".
