Port Talbot Town football club avoids second tax petition

A Welsh Premier League football club has avoided a second winding up petition from tax officials in the space of four months.

Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs requested their action against Port Talbot Town be dismissed by the High Court.

No details were given of the the debt that gave rise to the petition.

The club issued a statement afterwards confirming that the debt had been paid in full.

Chief executive Andrew Edwards said: "I would like to thank the club's board who have worked tirelessly under difficult circumstances recently.

"I'd also like to show my appreciation to a couple of club sponsors for stepping forward and helping out during this difficult time."
