A week-long market is opening in Swansea along with free parking for shoppers in a bid to boost support for high street traders.

The council has given traders free pitches across the week, with different themes for different days.

One councillor said he hoped people would "rediscover" local shopping.

It has been set up as part of the Welsh government's Support Your High Street campaign to encourage people to visit local shops.

There will also be live acts and activities in Swansea, while across Wales events such as fashion shows, food festivals and pop-up art exhibitions will be held.

The stalls will run along Oxford Street, Union Street, High Street and Princess Way until Saturday.
