A lottery syndicate at a Llanelli rugby club has won £1m on the EuroMillions.

Penygroes Rugby Club's 15-strong group won the prize on the millionaire raffle in the 26 September draw.

Each syndicate member, whose ages range from 55 to 88, has won £66,666.87 after their raffle number XTR537741 came up.

Syndicate leader Terry Rees, 73, said: "I came home and told my wife but she was on her way to the hairdressers. It was only when she was getting her hair done that it dawned on her!"

Mr Rees bought the ticket at the Today's Store in Gorslas Square.

The group, which has been playing EuroMillions for about 12 years, also matched two main numbers in the draw, bringing the total winnings to £1,000,003.10.
