Family of a grandmother found dead at a Pembrokeshire hospital say they have "serious concerns" about the standard of care she received.

Susan Evans, 75, was found dead in a ward at Withybush General Hospital in Haverfordwest on 17 November.

Her son Bill Evans said: "She took her own life on the ward while under the care of the health service and serious questions need to be answered."

Hywel Dda health board is carrying out an internal investigation.

Dyfed-Powys Police are investigating the events surrounding her death and the family want to know if proper security was in place.

Mr Evans said: "We have some very real serious concerns about the standard of care she received at the hospital and the possibility of neglect."

Hywel Dda chief operating officer Paul Hawkins said: "We are fully cooperating with the ongoing police investigation so no further comment will be made at this time."

Pembrokeshire council confirmed Mrs Evans was supported by its social services department in the past but said it had no involvement with her after 2011.
