A Carmarthenshire pianist has died following a car crash on Saturday night, her family has confirmed.

Jean Hywel Williams was being driven home by her husband following a VE Day concert at St Elli Parish Church, Llanelli on Saturday.

Mrs Hywel Williams died at the scene and her husband John is being treated for suspected broken ribs at Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen.

Their son Jeremy described his mother as a "wonderful musician".

"As a family, we are shocked and stunned by the tragedy", he said.

"We have been overwhelmed with the messages of condolence and many sincere and deeply-felt tributes which have arrived at the family home."

She was the resident pianist to both the Hywel Girls' Choir & Hywel Boy Singers and also the Llanelli Choral Society, which her family described as "her legacy".
