A 23-year-old has been charged with manslaughter following the death of a man in Swansea.

Police were called to Princess Way at about 03:00 GMT Sunday and Jonathan Robert Thomas, 34, was taken to Morriston Hospital where he later died.

The 23-year-old man, from Skewen, Neath Port Talbot, was charged on Monday, South Wales Police said.

He is due to appear before Swansea Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

Mr Thomas played for Swansea RFC - where his brother Nicky plays - and his previous clubs include Mumbles, Aberavon and Caerphilly.

A club statement said: "The sympathies of everyone at Swansea Rugby Club go out to our own Nicky Thomas, his parents Rob, Julie and all the family at this difficult time."

Aberavon RFC tweeted: "Thoughts and prayers are with Wizards former centre Jonny Thomas's family and friends #RIP."
