25 July 2013 Last updated at 22:50 BST

The Pope on a week long tour of Brazil has visited Varginha, one of Rio De Janeiro's many Favelas.

While there he addressed thousands of people, calling on them to help "put an end to social injustices".

He also blessed the new altar at a tiny church and hugged and kissed locals who crowded around him.

Wyre Davies reports.
