Michael Fish's denial of a hurricane in 1987

It is 25 years since the devastating Great Storm of 1987, which BBC weatherman Michael Fish famously dismissed.

After explaining that a viewer had rung the BBC saying a hurricane was on the way, Fish famously assured people that there wasn't.

He was correct in one sense - it was not a hurricane as the storm had not originated in the tropics.
