What is the impact of trial by television?

The Oscar Pistorius trial has been described as the South African equivalent of the OJ Simpson case - a big celebrity sports star on trial for murder, and the courtroom drama being played out in people's homes.

Trial by television is new for South Africa, but it has been going on for more than 20 years in America.

Alastair Leithead reports on how live television has changed our perception of the justice system.
