5 July 2014 Last updated at 09:56 BST

Team Sky principal Sir Dave Brailsford has stressed the importance of "team dynamics" and "self-sacrificing commitment" in his choice of riders to compete in this year's Tour de France.

The team is notably without former yellow jersey winner Sir Bradley Wiggins.

But Sir Dave told the Today programme: "It's not simply the case of taking your nine strongest riders."

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Saturday 5 July.
