Rebels in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo have advanced to within a few kilometres of the provincial capital, Goma.

The rebels say they have no plans to take the city but residents have started to flee.

A refugee camp close to the fontline has been abandoned as tensions intensify.

Gabriel Gatehouse reports from rebel-held territory.
