Students in Ghana aim for the orbit with model

Help

Students in Ghana have attached a model satellite to a balloon using plastic jars and other everyday objects, in the first part of an ambitious space project.

They are hoping to be able to send a satellite into orbit by 2016.

The aim is to use the satellite to help monitor local and regional developments including deforestation, pollution and floods.

Peter Musembi reports.
