Libya militias in renewed battle for airport

21 July 2014 Last updated at 04:35 BST

At least 50 people have been killed in fighting at Tripoli airport since it began a week ago, according to the health ministry.

More heavy fighting between rival militias broke out in and around the main international airport on Sunday.

The violence has forced the airport to close and the Libyan authorities have already warned that repairs will take months.

Emily Thomas reports.
