Japanese monks use rock music to spread message

3 July 2013 Last updated at 09:56 BST

A group of Japanese monks and pastors are trying to spread the word through music, but not the type of music you might expect from a Buddhist monk.

Reverend Kazuhiro Sekino, the pastor in charge of the Evangelical Lutheran Tokyo Church, has formed a rock band called Boxi.

He said his self-composed lyrics are inspired by daily meditations on life and the human spirit.

Tim Allman reports.
