Barack Obama to miss Apec leader summit

Leaders have gathered for the annual Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation summit in Bali, Indonesia, with the notable exception of Barack Obama.

The US president has cancelled the trip because of the government shutdown in his country.

He was supposed to be discussing an ambitious 12-nation free trade agreement known as the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
