Rescuers have managed to free a young whale stranded for two days on a beach in Queensland, Australia.

The whale, thought to be a two-year-old humpback, washed up on Palm Beach, south of Brisbane, late on Tuesday.

It's now in open water after several earlier rescue attempts failed.

Catherine Addis reports.
