Vietnamese and China tensions over oil rig move

16 July 2014 Last updated at 13:13 BST

China will move an oil rig away from disputed waters near the Vietnamese coast and it could diffuse tensions between the two counties.

When the rig was stationed in the sea that is claimed by both Vietnam and China at the beginning of May, anti-China protests and riots erupted in Vietnam.

The BBC's Nga Pham reports from on board a Vietnamese coastguard vessel following the move of the rig.
