The New York based group Human Rights Watch has released a report claiming that between 2006 and 2012 more than two million Tibetans were moved into new housing by Chinese authorities.

They say the so-called 'socialist villages' are designed to erode ethnic Tibetans' traditional way of life.

The Chinese government maintains that the programme is aimed at boosting the region`s economy and providing a better standard of living for Tibetans.
