Fire crews in Australia are battling to bring nearly 50 wildfires under control as a heatwave continues across the south of the country.

Officials said lightning strikes caused more than 250 fires in the state of Victoria alone.

The scorching temperatures have also continued to affect players at the Australian Open tennis tournament in Melbourne.

Jon Donnison reports from Australia.
