Grenade launcher found in County Leitrim

The Irish army has made safe an improvised grenade launcher in County Leitrim.

It was found, along with two rounds of ammunition, in a field in Ballinamore in the early hours of Tuesday.

A quantity of black powder and a detonator were removed for further examination.

Meanwhile, an investigation is under way after a bomb exploded under a parked car in Ballyfermot in Dublin. No-one was in the car at the time.

The car, which was badly damaged, was parked at the front of a house on Rossmore Drive when the device exploded at around 0200 BST.
