Man held after pensioner killing in Dublin

A 29-year-old man has been arrested after a pensioner was killed in the Kimmage area of Dublin.

The 70-year-old man, who was living at a retirement complex in Ravensdale Close, was found dead in bed following a fire at his home.

He died after he was attacked and stabbed in the chest.

The pensioner's home was then set on fire and the emergency services were alerted.

The body of the man has been removed and a post-mortem examination is expected to take place later on Sunday.

Irish police have recovered a knife at the scene which they believe could have been used in the killing.
