Scuffles at start of Spain's general strike

Scuffles broke out between protesters and police as workers began a picket at Madrid's bus depot.

Spanish unions are holding a general strike to protest against labour reforms which the new government hopes will help cut unemployment.

Road, rail and air transport have been affected, with domestic and European flights cut to a fraction of their usual volume.

Union members have been manning picket lines at transport depots and warehouses over what are described as "brutal labour reforms".
