Thousands of litres of diesel sludge found in County Louth
Six containers filled with thousands of litres of toxic diesel sludge have been found by the side of a road in County Louth.
Two of the containers were leaking sludge across the road in Dunleer.
The road was expected to remain closed until 12:00 BST on Friday.
Louth County Council spent 1m euro on clearing up toxic sludge in 2011, a figure expected to be exceeded in 2012.
The sludge is produced when criminal gangs remove the dye used as a marker in cheap agricultural diesel for illegal sale as road fuel.
