Man dies after 'fall' into Dublin's Royal Canal

A 24-year-old believed to have fallen into the Royal Canal in Dublin has died.

Andrew Duffy from Termon, County Donegal, had been out with friends following the All-Ireland football semi-final in Croke Park.

He was discovered at Binns Bridge at about 23:45 BST on Sunday.

Mr Duffy was taken to Dublin's Mater Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Irish Police said it appears he fell into the water and are investigating the death.

Mr Duffy played for Termon GAA club at senior level. The club's chairman Joe McDaid described his death as a "devastating loss" for the team, village and county.
