Bray, County Wicklow: bomb made safe

A bomb has been defused by the Irish Army in Bray, County Wicklow.

Some residents were moved from their homes after the device was discovered on wasteground in the Ballywaltrim area at about 22:05 GMT on Monday.

Army experts carried out a controlled explosion on the bomb and the area was declared safe at about 03:40 GMT on Tuesday.

The remains of the bomb, described as an improvised explosive device, were handed over to the police.
