Murder hunt begins after man's body found on Meath beach

A murder investigation has been launched after a man's body was found on a beach in the Republic of Ireland.

A woman walking on Mornington Beach in County Meath found the body on Tuesday at about 09:30 BST.

The man had been stabbed several times and had suffered serious head injuries.

The man was in his 40s and was originally from Lithuania. He had been living in Ireland for four years.

Detectives have appealed for information.
