Murder inquiry launched after body found in Phoenix Park, Dublin

Police have launched a murder inquiry following the discovery of a man's body in Phoenix Park in Dublin.

It was discovered in a sleeping bag near the Wellington Monument in the park at about 01:30 GMT on Friday.

It is understood there were burn injuries on his body.

A post mortem examination was carried out but GardaĆ­ (Irish police) said they were not releasing the results for operational reasons.

They have appealed to anyone who was in the area of Wellington Road between 00:30 GMT and 01:00 GMT to contact them.
