12 December 2013 Last updated at 11:09 GMT

The European Union's foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, says the president of Ukraine "intends to sign" a trade and cooperation agreement with the EU, after all.

President Viktor Yanukovych rejected the deal last month, prompting mass protests.

Demonstrators are still occupying Independence Square in the capital, Kiev.

But Catherine Ashton told reporters Mr Yanukovych was now committed to signing up to the EU deal.
