AIB fixes ATM debit card problems

Allied Irish Bank has resolved a fault that meant some customers could not use their debit cards at ATMs belonging to other banks.

Customers subsequently also had problems at AIB cash machines that mistakenly registered them as having exceeded their withdrawal limit.

Technical issues that began on Friday were initially resolved, but they emerged again a day later.

AIB said on Sunday it had fixed the problem, and apologised to customers.

The bank's credit cards, online transactions and shop payments were not affected.
