Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher is still in a medically-induced coma and "fighting for his life" following a skiing accident, doctors have confirmed.

The seven-time Formula 1 champion was skiing off-piste with his son in the French Alps on Sunday morning when the accident occurred.

Staff at the hospital in Grenoble where he is being treated gave an update on his condition on Monday.

Deputy director Jean-Marc Grenier, neurosurgeon Prof Chabardes and head of anaesthesia Prof Jean-Francois Payen said Mr Schumacher had lesions on his brain and that he remains in a "critical condition".
