Irish soldier remanded on explosives charges
A serving member of the Republic of Ireland's army has been remanded in custody after appearing in court in County Donegal charged with having explosives.
Mark Cassidy, 29, from Burnfoot, appeared at Letterkenny District Court on two charges of possessing explosives at the same address in February.
He is charged with having an explosive substance and possessing 87 12-gauge shotgun cartridges.
The case was postponed until March.
No bail was sought by Mr Cassidy's solicitor.
Letterkenny District Court was told that directions in the case had still not been received from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
