Man and woman killed in Dublin shootings

A man and a woman have been killed in separate shootings in Dublin.

Mary Dargan, 66, was shot dead at her house in the Killinarden estate in Tallaght on Saturday afternoon.

A man has been charged with her murder and the attempted murder of her 34-year-old daughter, who has been released from hospital after treatment.

In a separate attack on Saturday night, a man in his 40s was shot dead at a house in Lucan in west Dublin. He was named locally as Stephen Moran.

According to Irish state broadcaster RTÉ, Mr Moran, of Earlsfort View in Lucan, was known to police for his involvement in criminal gangs in Dublin and Limerick, and was also an associate of convicted drug dealer John Gilligan.

Gilligan is recovering in hospital after he was shot two weeks ago at his brother's home in Clondalkin.
