Russia and Ukraine row as protesters clash

14 April 2014 Last updated at 05:50 BST

The Russian and Ukrainian ambassadors to the UN clashed at an emergency Security Council meeting in New York.

The session was called by the Russian ambassador who has accused the Ukrainian authorities of waging war on their own people.

Ukraine's ambassador responded by calling for Russia to leave his country alone.

The situation in the east of Ukraine has deteriorated as pro-Russian demonstrators face military action from authorities if they do no desist their protests.

Simon Clemison reports.
