Ukraine crisis: Pro-Russian mob attack in Donetsk

14 April 2014 Last updated at 23:57 BST

The confrontation in eastern Ukraine worsened on Monday with more official buildings seized by pro-Russian activists.

Russia and the West are accusing each other of fomenting the crisis which has now spread to at least ten cities.

Ukraine says it has asked for UN peacekeepers, but Russia holds a veto on their deployment.

Gabriel Gatehouse reports from Donetsk in eastern Ukraine for BBC Newsnight, where journalists - including a BBC team - have been targeted.
