Man dies after falling out of car in County Limerick

The man who died after falling out of a car travelling near the village of Kildimo in County Limerick on Saturday morning was 31-year-old Tony O'Brien.

Mr O'Brien fell out of the back door of the car he was in on the N69. The car then left the scene.

He was struck by a second vehicle, that remained at the scene. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are examining a burned-out car found in the Kennedy Park area of Limerick as part of the investigation.

Mr O'Brien had spent time in prison for manslaughter after assaulting a man in Limerick in 2006.

He was originally from Moyross in County Limerick but had been living in Tralee in County Kerry.

The car he was in was described as light blue, with a registration beginning 99-WH. It was possibly a Toyota Avensis or a BMW.

Police have appealed for information.
