Grenade found during County Galway renovation
An historic but viable grenade found during a renovation of a building in County Galway in the Republic of Ireland has been made safe.
It was found at a site during building works in the Raheen area, near Caherlistrane.
The device was moved from the scene to an open area nearby, where the Irish Army bomb disposal team carried out a controlled explosion on it.
The grenade is believed to have dated from the early 20th century.
It was a type used in the Irish War of Independence, the Civil War, and both world wars.
