Child, 6, injured in shooting in Ballyfermot, west Dublin
Irish police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting of a child in west Dublin.
The boy, who is six years old, is being treated in hospital for a gunshot wound to his neck. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
It happened in the Ballyfermot area of the city shortly after 22:00 BST on Friday night.
Gardaí said they have identified a suspect and that the boy was not the intended target.
They have appealed for witnesses and anyone with information to contact them at Ballyfermot Garda Station.
