Policeman to go on trial over six euro theft

An Irish police officer is due to go on trial in December charged with stealing 6.25 euros (£4.94)

Padraig Dennehy, who is stationed at Mountjoy Garda Station in the Republic of Ireland, is also accused of assaulting a man.

The alleged offences occured at Parnell Square West in Dublin on 3 March 2013.

The charges follow an investigation by the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission.
