Pensioners hit by garda chase car near Limerick
A 79-year-old man struck by a car pursued by police in the Republic of Ireland has had a leg amputated.
The car veered across the road and crashed, pinning him between two parked cars in the County Clare village of Parteen, on the outskirts of Limerick.
Two other men in their 70s sustained minor injuries in the incident that happened at about 17:00 BST on Thursday.
One of the men travelling in the car was arrested nearby.
Police are searching for another man who fled the scene.
The Garda Ombudsman has begun an investigation and appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.
