Carlow town: Police officers injured after their car is rammed

Three police officers have been taken to hospital in the Republic of Ireland after their patrol car was rammed.

Shortly before midnight on Saturday, a car failed to stop for gardaí at a checkpoint on the N80 in Clonegal, County Carlow.

Gardaí said the car was followed across the county before it rammed a patrol car on St. Joseph's Road in Carlow town. The police officers who were hurt have now left hospital.

Three men in their 20s were arrested.

Two police patrol cars were damaged during the course of the incident.

Gardaí said a small amount of suspected cocaine was recovered and a technical examination of the scene is under way.
